A Proclamation on the Death of Rosalynn Carter

Throughout her life as First Lady of Georgia and First Lady of the United States, Rosalynn Carter exemplified hope, warmth, and a steadfast commitment to doing all she could to address many of our society’s greatest needs. She was a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women and girls; an advocate for mental health and wellness for all; and a supporter of the often unseen and uncompensated caregivers of our children, aging loved ones, and people with disabilities. Above all, the deep love shared between Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter is the definition of partnership, and their humble leadership is the definition of patriotism.

As a mark of respect for the memory of Rosalynn Carter, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions from November 25, 2023, until sunset, on the day of interment. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-first day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-eighth.

In observance of Thanksgiving Day, please note the HOA Office will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2023 and Friday, November 24, 2023.

The HOA office will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Friendly reminder, vendors will not be allowed on property on the following holidays. Emergency exceptions will be considered.

• New Year’s Day: Monday, January 1, 2024

Overnight on-street parking for guests will be permitted during the following time frames:

• Friday, November 17, 2023 – Saturday, November 25, 2023
• Friday, December 22, 2023 – Tuesday, January 2, 2024

Please note, during this time, overnight on-street parking citations will not be issued. Please do not park in the no-parking zones such as red curbs or obstruct any driveways.

Please contact the HOA Office at 760-345-4349 ext. 1 for Clubhouse Parking passes. RV parking passes may be obtained at either main gate (Jefferson Street or 40th Avenue).

The North Channel Park will reopen on Thursday, November 2.

Vintage Landscape will be delaying the closure of the Phase 3 Dog Park until the Phase 1 Dog Park reopens, so that residents may have a dog park to visit. The Phase 3 Dog Park will close on Monday, November 6, and reopen on Monday, December 18.

Please Note: The entire Montecito Clubhouse parking lot (including fitness center and HOA office) will close at 10:00 pm on Friday, October 20. It will reopen after the event on Saturday, October 21, at approximately 12:00 pm. Parking is allowed on Sun City Blvd during this time.

Additionally, the Lifestyle Desk will close early on Saturday, October 21, at 2:00 pm.

The Santa Rosa Fitness Center will be closed for carpet replacement and tile replacement to the main hallway beginning, Monday, October 30, 2023, – Friday, November 3, 2023. As a result, the La Jolla Conference room and the Monterey room will be unavailable as equipment will be stored in both rooms. The Santa Rosa Clubhouse is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

During this time, please use the entry doors located on the west side of the Clubhouse to access the bathrooms and/or showers, and the Newport/Pismo rooms.

Chartered Club and Committee Volunteer Fair

The Sun City Shadow Hills Club Fair will feature over 50 Charter Clubs. Learn first-hand about all the wonderful activities and programs for your enjoyment. In addition, current Committee members will be available to speak about their functions and contributions to Sun City Shadow Hills.

Paint SCSH Pink

Walk Begins at Montecito Fitness Center

Paint SCSH Pink is a 1.5 mile walk along Sun City Boulevard to help raise awareness for breast cancer and raise much needed funds for the Desert Cancer Foundation.

Registration to receive a t-shirt is now closed, but we invite you to join us and support this great cause.

• 5:30 pm – Refreshments and entertainment in the Montecito Ballroom.
• 6:00 pm – Desert Cancer Foundation Introduction.
• 6:15 pm – Survivors and current fighters will be invited to stand and lead the walk (see map below).
• 7:00 pm – Upon returning from the walk, we will honor and remember the individuals who have been faced with cancer.

Those not participating please note: Be cautious of walkers while driving on Sun City Blvd during the event.

NPG Corporation will be performing asphalt work at Sun City Shadow Hills on the dates listed below.

Please note, during this time, street parking citations will not be issued near the affected areas. However, please do not obstruct any driveways or park in no-parking zones such as red curbs or the streets where asphalt repair is taking place.
