Solar Shade Structure Could Save SCSH as much as $2 million

Update on Community Strategic Plan by Joan Dzuro

The Board met the morning of May 3rd to review the current SCSH Strategic Plan (copy on scshca.com website). Discussion was held on which items were still relevant, were there any items that needed to be added. Representatives from PPA Partners (commercial property solar company) made a presentation to the Board on adding shade structures in our various parking lots with solar panels on top. The Board is reviewing the proposal and rebates available to see about doing this project in three phases in our current strategic plan; Montecito parking lot, Santa Rosa parking lot and the Shadows/golf parking lot. Initial information shows will pay for itself in 2 to 3 years and will save $2,000,000 for the HOA over 20 years.

The actual parking lot structure would be designed in keeping with the architectural style of the common areas in the community and the panels at the Montecito Parking lot would be facing away from street view.

This could not only save our community money, but also be attractive while protecting our vehicles from the desert sun.
