Let’s Clean House Week 4

Day 16 - Office/Den/Guest

  • Clean out and organize drawers, cabinets and closets
  • Throw out old paperwork, files, warranties, instruction books, etc.
  • Clean windows, window treatments & moldings.
  • Dust and polish cabinets, furniture, artwork and photos.
  • Move furniture, dust baseboards, then vacuum carpet or clean tile or wood floors.


Day 17 - Clean the Laundry Room

  • As usual begin by cleaning and reorganizing everything in your cabinets.
  • Throw out that stuff you no longer need.
  • Clean the inside of your washer and then the outside along with your dryer.  Move them out, clean the floor, then move them back.  Run your washer with a cleaning agent.
  • Dust artwork and other décor.  Wipe down door, moldings, baseboard and wash the floor.
  • Wash entry rug.


Day 18 – The Final Day…Hooray!!!

  • Change filters – HVAC, air purifiers, Roomba, vacuums
  • Order new filters for the above
  • Touch-up paint chips throughout the house
  • Empty wastebaskets
  • Wash wastebaskets
  • Clean front and back exterior entrances
  • Open a bottle of champagne and enjoy your very clean home!

Let’s Clean House Week 3

Day 11 – Move furniture and then dust and/or vacuum floor and dust baseboards.

  • Do the same for closet floors. Dust furniture, polish or oil furniture.


Day 12 – Flip or turnover your mattress.

  • Wash all the bedding & remake the bed
  • Then sit down on the bed with a glass of Bailey’s to enjoy your beautiful, clean bedroom
  • Repeat, if necessary, in 3 bedroom


Day 13 – A Sparkling Clean Bathroom

  • Empty & clean out cabinets and medicine cabinet
  • Throw out old or unused make-up.
  • Throw out old prescriptions and over the counter drugs.
  • Clean showers shower doors & sinks & countertops.
  • Put on your sunglasses and look at your shiny doors!
  • Now it is time for the dreaded toilet.
  • Clean outlets, artwork. switch plates, doors, baseboards and molding. Polish mirrors.
  • Wash area rugs, decorative towels and bath towels.
  • Dust baseboards and wash the floor


Day 14 – Repeat in second bathroom

  • If necessary, repeat in third bathroom


Day 15 - Great Room, Hallways, & Dining Room

  • Clean and organize drawers & shelves.
  • Wash windows and clean window treatments.
  • Dust all artwork, décor items, ceiling fans, lamps, photos, ceiling fans, & polish the furniture.
  • Move your furniture, dust the baseboards and vacuum carpet or clean tile or wood floor.
  • Sit down on your sofa or most comfortable chair with a glass a wine and admire your work.

Let’s Clean House Week 2

Day 6 – Clean and polish backsplash, cupboard exteriors, pantry door, counter tops and appliance exteriors, wash area rugs, clean and polish sinks.


Day 7 – Clean tile and grout or wood & base board

  • Then get take-out dinner from Shadows so you don’t mess up your clean kitchen


Day 8 - Clean your Bedroom

  • Start with the closet
  • Remove items, dust the shelves
  • Sort clothes into piles of keep, donate or throw


Day 9 – Clean & organize dresser, chest & night-stand drawers

  • Sort clothes into piles of keep, donate or throw


Day 10 – Wash windows, clean window treatments, dust lamps, TV, light fixtures, artwork, photos.

  • Polish mirrors and dust doors and moldings

Let’s Clean House Week 1

Day 1: Empty and Clean Refrigerator and Freezer

  • Throw out all expired food (at least that from the 20th century)
  • While empty, move the refrigerator out and clean the floor
  • Wash the top, back, and sides

Today includes a second refrigerator in the garage and a wine fridge too.


Day 2: Clean All the Small Appliances

  • Microwave, toaster, rice cooker, blender, etc.
  • Q-tips and toothpicks are handy to clean the crevices
  • Clean stuff sitting on the counter, e.g. canisters, paper towel holder, knife racks, decorations, etc.


Day 3: Clean and Re-organize Drawers and Cupboards

  • This is a big day!  Wash or clean shelves and maybe replace shelf liner.


Day 4: Clean Light Fixtures (Including under Cabinet Lighting)

  • Windows and window coverings
  • Wash light fixtures and outlets
  • Dust walls if you are inspired to do so


Day 5: Clean the Oven, Cook Top, Garbage Disposal, Inside of Dishwasher

  • Fill with “Finish” if you use it.
  • Clean flatware.  If you have flatware, particularly knives, that have marks on them here is an easy trick to clean them.  Put a couple of inches of water into a ~9x12 plastic container. Add a teaspoon of baking soda. Place your knives into the water and cover with aluminum foil. Let it sit for 5 minutes.  Then wash and dry. You will be pleased with the results.
  • Clean dishes.  If you have light colored plates and/or bowls with dark scuff marks, here is method to clean them. Make a paste of baking soda and water. Put the paste on the dishes and scrub with a scouring pad and Soft Scrub or Bon Ami to remove those black use marks.
