Course Hosts Shadow Hills High School Golf Event

On May 14, our South golf course hosted the first annual Shadow Hills High School golf benefit to raise funds for the schools’ athletic programs. More than 80 golfers participated in the 4-person team scramble event. Teams included members of our Shadow Hills community as well as parents and teachers from the high school.

Event Chairman and Assistant Principal Gabriel Fajardo was delighted with the outcome. “We wanted to create an annual fundraising event for our parents, fans, and sponsors to help raise funds to promote and support our athletics program as we make the transition into the Desert Valley League.”

It was a rousing success. Golfers were treated to a round of golf, a BBQ lunch following the round, and prizes for all participants. As one of our residents who played in the event said, “We all had a great time; it’s been nearly 50 years since I was greeted by high school cheerleaders – nice touch!”

As for the winners, it was clearly the hundreds of student athletes who will benefit from the more than $15,000 that was raised in one afternoon of golf and camaraderie. Plans are already underway for next year’s event likely to be held in March of 2017.
