Be cautious of scam emails.
We have received several reports regarding a scam email. The email appears to be from Board President, Jerry Conrad, but it is not. The sender is mailbox.report2@optimum.net. Please do not reply to the email or click on anything within the email. Please delete it.
Here are a few tips to avoid email scams:
- If you receive an email from a familiar sender but it looks suspicious, verify the sender’s identity by contacting them via a known phone number or different email address.
- Look out for red flags such as poor grammar, spelling errors, asking for gift cards, or a suspicious email address.
- Don’t click on suspicious links or download attachments.
- Be cautious about sharing personal or financial information via email, especially if it is unsolicited. Legitimate organizations typically do not request sensitive information through email.
- Be wary of urgent or threatening emails. Scammers often use urgency or threats to pressure you into taking action quickly without thinking critically.
Remember, scammers are constantly coming up with new tactics, so it’s important to be vigilant and use common sense when dealing with emails, especially if they involve requests for personal or financial information. When in doubt, it’s best to err on the side of caution and verify the authenticity of an email before taking any action.
