SC Palm Desert is drilling a well. I asked what the well was for and she said to irrigate their golf courses. I asked if it was legal and she said yes. Should we explore this?

Response:

We have asked our Golf Club Manager, Rolland Vaughn to field your question and his answer is as follows:

Thank you for taking the time to send along your question and the opportunity for us to provide you with some information about our community.  Shadow Hills Golf Club has three (3) wells on property that are available to provide irrigation water for use on the golf courses.  There is one well where water can be pumped into the lake at the Montecito Clubhouse, one well at the North Channel (40th& Jefferson) that provides water to the ponds throughout the back 9 of the South Course and one well at the Facilities Maintenance yard in Phase 3 where water can be pumped into the lake on #12 of the North Course.  The water from each of these wells ultimately is fed into an lake where a pump station sends the water to irrigation heads throughout the golf courses. Our facility also has access to canal water and non-potable water through the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) that is used for irrigation of the golf courses in a similar fashion.

All of these sources are used throughout the year to irrigate the golf courses positioning us in an extremely positive situation should there be an issue with the supply from any one source.

Best regards,

Rolland Vaughn
