Indio’s General Plan Workshop Key to Shaping Future of the City

INDIO, CA (September 14, 2017) – The city of Indio is inviting residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to its General Plan Community Workshop on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Indio Senior Center, 45700 Aladdin Street, Indio, CA 92201. Feedback will be critical to shaping the future of the largest and fastest growing city in the Coachella Valley.

The public will be asked about building heights, new park locations, transportation options, residential and retail locations, and community amenities. There will also be a special presentation on the future development of the Jackson and Kenner Public Park and Art Project.

“The General Plan Community Workshop is a great opportunity for our community to tell us how they want their city to look like in the future,” said Indio Mayor Elaine Holmes. “We are growing very fast with major developments happening all over the city. Smart growth and sustainability will be key to ensure we maintain the quality of life our residents and businesses expect.”

The city of Indio is embarking on a 12-month General Plan Update process. The General Plan is a policy document required by California law that provides long-range guidance for land use, development, transportation, open space conservation, affordable housing, economic development, community services and other topics. The Indio General Plan update will serve as the city's blueprint for future development and decision-making.

Light refreshments will be served and raffle prizes will be available to those who attend and participate. More information can be found at Indio2040.org.
