Introduction to Bill Ferstenfeld, Newest Member of the Finance Advisory Committee (FAC)

By Bill Wethe
Chair, Finance Advisory Committee

Bill and his wife Nancy have lived in our community for six years. Prior to retiring, Bill served for 42 years as Executive Director of  several major synagogues in New York City and Philadelphia. His last position was in Elkins Park, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel  where he served as Executive Director for 25 years. This was the fifth largest synagogue in the U.S. where Bill's  responsibilities included the management of all  non-professional staff, financial functions, facilities, fund raising and hiring of major vendors.

As a synagogue professional, he achieved the status of Fellow in Temple Administration, became President of the National Association for Temple Administration, and served on the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of the Union for Reform Judaism.

After retiring, Bill needed to keep busy and decided to volunteer in the community. He is currently a Crew Chief/Docent on the B-17 at the Palm Springs Air Museum (three days a week), a volunteer at the Tolerance Education Center and previously  at the Living Desert and the final Bob Hope Golf Tournament.

He truly enjoys living in our beautiful community and is slowly but surely adapting to life in California.

Please join me and the other seven members serving on the FAC in welcoming Bill and thanking him for his service to our community.
