“There’s so much sorrow in the world that guiding someone to feel happiness brings joy.” These words by Vib Verma express the altruistic philosophy that embodies the man. Over the past two years , every Monday morning, Vib Verma has offered his time and enriched lives by guiding SCSH community members in living more serene, fulfilled, and wholesome lives through the practice of meditation. Vib believes that people should volunteer without expecting reciprocation, and that giving of yourself should be a “one way street.”
Born in Burma, (now Myanmar), he did his bachelor’s degree in economics in India before moving to California in the early '80s. He’s been volunteering for over seventeen years and is the founder of the “Meditation Over Medication” club in SCSH. Vib also helped in building the Meditation Center in Twentynine Palms, and taught meditation to children and adults at the Palm Desert Library and the La Quinta Community Center. Throughout COVID-19, Vib did zoom sessions and assisted our residents during that difficult time.
Vib has been married for 33 years and has two children, a daughter with a PhD, and a grown son with a master’s degree in education. Thank you Vib, for your contribution to our community!
