Many residents have been wondering about this construction, which has been underway for several weeks and which involved significant traffic delays.
Black Gold Builders has been installing an underground sewer main, at about a depth of 15 ft. with an approximate run of 600 linear ft., which will serve the gas station and convenience store at the southwest corner of Jefferson Street and Varner Road. The project experienced delays because of excessive heat, and this set back the completion date.
Black Gold Builders is now awaiting an inspection of the underground sewer main by CVWD. Once the construction is approved, the contractor will provide permanent paving over the trench. The inspection is tentatively scheduled to occur the week of August 21 and, if favorable, the permanent paving is scheduled for the week of August 28. The City of Indio staff will be coordinating with Black Gold Builders to make any possible adjustments to the traffic control setup, in order to provide for a smoother flow of traffic.
