Last night, Veterans and their families of Sun City Shadow Hills held a moving tribute to all those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.
As each Veteran stood to identify themselves, their branch of service and conflict, it was difficult not to feel very moved. Veterans of WWI, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam -- all stood humbly to identify. One gentlemen had been at the Tokyo Bay Treaty Signing at the end of WWII. Another had flown over 250 mission in Vietnam. Others reflected on their fallen comrades.
The Guest Speaker was Indio City Councilman Glen Miller who talked about the need for a permanent memorial in Indio to honor those who have served and his plan to make that happen.
At the conclusion of the event, the Veterans announced their annual Toys for Tots Drive.
Residents will already note Toys for Tots boxes strategically located throughout the community. And they encourage all SCSH residents to donate and make some child's holiday special.
