What do the SCSH All Resident, All Volunteer Advisory Committees do?

While we hope that we have elected those persons to our corporate board with the best corporate business backgrounds possible -- the Directors of a $12 million corporation cannot possibly have all the skills, or the time to evaluate the operation of our community properly. As in any corporation , there is a division of labor. Each Director is assigned to specific committees to be the liaison for that committee to the Board.

The function of each committee is to advise the Board in their given area of expertise – for example, the Landscape Advisory Committee (LAC) is made up of retired landscapers and those with a keen interest in landscape. Each member of this committee has a specific common area of the community that they are responsible for monitoring. Twice each month, these homeowners survey their designated area of the community for dead plants, broken spigots, any and all areas that they feel need to be addressed. They also receive all concerns from residents that come in through hot-topics@scshca.com.

At the monthly meeting, they make recommendations for new plants, trees, replacements, turf removal, etc. in coordination with the Facilities Director who oversees Hort Tech and the President and Vice President of Hort Tech – (Hort Tech is the company responsible for all common area landscaping in the community.) The Committee Chair, Chris Stevens, will put together a BAF (Board Action Form) with the recommendations the committee members have come up with -- to go to the Board for approval. The Liaison to the Committee will present the BAF to the Board at the next Board meeting for a vote.

All committees act in an advisory capacity to the Board.
