The Classic Movie Club presents a wide variety of Oscar-winning and nominated films every other Friday, starting at 3 pm in the Santa Rosa Clubhouse’s Monterey Room. A brief introduction precedes each movie presentation, and an open discussion is encouraged after each screening. To enhance our communal movie-going experience, free snacks and refreshments will be provided or you can bring your own food and beverages.
One of the club’s hosts, Josh Kanin, grew up in a prominent Hollywood show business family. His parents, Fay and Michael Kanin, and uncle and aunt, Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon, were all Oscar and Emmy Award-winning screenwriters, directors, actors, and producers with long, stellar Hollywood and Broadway careers. Josh is a noted film historian from Los Angeles, and since 1973, a college professor of film studies. Marty and Carla Graifer, co-hosts with Josh, are decades long classic movie fans and experts.
The screening events are open to all SCSH residents, and no club membership is required to attend them. If you love classic movies, please join us and pass the word on to your friends.
