Brenda Toth

I am proud to say that I am a born and raised Calgarian.  I am young at heart and enjoy keeping active.  Some of my passions are travelling, hiking, line dancing and biking.  Living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the Rocky Mountains are our playground so it is no surprise that hiking is one of my favorite activities.

In 2004, I co-founded a hiking group called “The Moon Wanderers” [there is a story behind this name – ask me about it sometime when we are on the trails].  My colleague and I organized and co-lead hikes together until 2007, at which time she moved away from Calgary.  I continued leading that group until 2011, when a number of core members retired from hiking for various reasons.

Fast forward to 2020 . . . I retired one week before the COVID lockdown in Canada.  To this day, I am not sure if that was a blessing or a curse.  Once the border opened to vehicles and I was able to spend more time in Sun City Shadow Hills, I was searching for ways to keep active and meet new people.  In January 2023, I joined the “Over The Hill” hiking club and through the club, I have formed many new friendships.  I continue to be amazed at how many hikes there are in the area and how vastly different the landscape is on each hike.

I look forward to hitting the trails with new and returning members in the upcoming season!
