Classic Movie Club: Citizen Kane (1941)



The CLASSIC MOVIE CLUB presents:
Free bi-monthly screenings every other Friday of Academy Award-winning and nominated films to be shown in the latest remastered Blu-ray editions on a big theater-style screen using a state-of-the-art 4K high-definition video projector.
On Friday, April 24, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Santa Rosa Clubhouse’s Monterey Room, the club will present:
“CITIZEN KANE” – the 1941 film directed by, produced by, and starring Orson Welles, and co-written by Welles and Herman J. Mankiewicz. This epic tale of a publishing tycoon’s rise and fall is entertaining, poignant, and inventive in its storytelling, earning its reputation as perhaps the greatest American film of all time. It received nine Academy Award nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Best Directing (Orson Welles), Best Actor (Welles), Best B&W Cinematography (Gregg Toland), Best Music Scoring, and Best Film Editing. Mankiewicz and Welles won the Oscar for the Best Original Screenplay.
To enhance our communal moviegoing experience, complimentary snacks will be provided, and you can bring your own food and beverages. At each club screening, there will be a giveaway of classic movie DVDs.
