City of Desert Hot Springs Welcomes the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall: A Time for Honor and Reflection

Desert Hot Springs, April 2nd, 2024: Desert Hot Springs, CA – The City of Desert Hot Springs is honored to host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall, a traveling replica of the revered monument in Washington, D.C. This event is not only a memorial but also a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and reverence for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The community is warmly invited to this free, around-the-clock exhibition, which offers a special opportunity for reflection and healing.

As the Moving Wall graces our city, we encourage the involvement of our community members. The city is seeking volunteers to assist with various aspects of the event, from welcoming guests to helping with logistics. To participate in this noble cause, please reach out to Melissa Purcell at (760) 329-6411 ext.139 or email recreation@cityofdhs.org.

We are also calling for food donations from local businesses, underlining the communal spirit of Desert Hot Springs.

Edward G. Johnson, a local Vietnam Purpleheart Combat Wounded Veteran, has stated “Having the traveling replica wall here in Desert Hot Springs will allow Vietnam Veterans like me to be with our brothers and sisters who were KIA and POW. Thanks to the City of Desert Hot Springs for keeping their memory alive.”

Please join us in this significant event to pay tribute to our valiant heroes. For more information on the Moving Wall visit www.cityofdhs.org/events.

Let us come together in unity and respect, ensuring this tribute to our veterans is a moving experience for all.
