Classic Movie Club: The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)

The CLASSIC MOVIE CLUB presents:
Bi-monthly screenings on Friday afternoons of Oscar-winning and nominated films shown on a giant screen in high definition using only restored and remastered Blu-ray discs.
On Friday, October 20, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the Santa Rosa Clubhouse’s Monterey Room, the club will present:
“THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR” – a 1999 sophisticated romantic heist film set in the world of fine art - directed by John McTiernan, and starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. A more modern and stylish remake of the 1968 film of the same name. Some of the famous French Impressionist paintings on display in the film’s art gallery scenes are: “San Giorgio Maggiore at Twilight” by Claude Monet; “Noon: Rest From Work” by Vincent van Gogh; “The Artist’s Garden at Eragny” by Camille Pissarro; “The Son of Man” by René Magritte; and “Banks of the Seine at Argenteuil” by Édouard Manet, among many others. The Thomas Crown Affair was a huge commercial and critical success - one of the most highly acclaimed and biggest moneymakers of the ‘90s.
After the screening, there will be time for socializing, and you will be able to take a picture of yourself holding a real Oscar. Club membership is not required to attend our free screenings.
