Indio Roads to Be Slurry Sealed Beginning November 7, 2018

Residents and Motorists Encouraged to Use Alternative Routes Due to Road Closures

INDIO, CA (November 5, 2018) – The City of Indio’s Public Works Department has released a schedule to slurry seal various roads in Indio starting on November 7, 2018 through the end of the month. During the project, traffic lanes will be closed between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm Residents and other motorists are urged to use alternate routes due to localized delays. Access for emergency vehicles will be unaffected. Slurry seals are a mixture of asphalt and fine aggregate to repair cracks and surface defects on roads. The project is funded by Measure X, which was a voter-approved 1% sales tax increase measure passed by Indio voters in 2016 for infrastructure improvements and public safety.

The road maintenance schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, November 7: Avenue 43 between 24-Hour Fitness and Patton Park

Road closure from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Use alternate route.

Thursday, November 8: Avenue 43 between Golf Center Parkway and Terra Lago

Road closure from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Terra Lago residents should use the gates on Terra Lago Parkway or Avenue 44.

Calhoun Street between Avenue 42 and Avenue 43

Road closure from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Use alternate route.

Friday, November 9: Avenue 43 between Patton Park and Golf Center Parkway

Road closure from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Use alternate route.

Additionally, the community streets within Bella Tierra and Villa Estates will be slurry sealed. Parking restrictions will be in effect per the contractor-installed signage. Door hangers will be distributed to all affected homes with notification of the dates of parking and access restrictions.

Crack sealing operations in preparation for upcoming slurry seal operations will be performed over the next few weeks on Avenue 38 between Dune Palms Road and Madison Street, Avenue 39, Jefferson Street between Avenue 38 and Avenue 39, Calhoun Street between Highway 111 and Avenue

48, Dune Palms Road between Avenue 38 and Avenue 37, and Avenue 37. Motorists can expect minor localized delays if one of the mobile work areas is encountered.
