Our Story

In 1884 author and Indian Rights Advocate Helen Hunt Jackson wrote the book “Ramona”. It carried a message that was so compelling it moved hearts and minds throughout the country.

Thousands and thousands came to California because of it. In 1921 the communities of Hemet and San Jacinto decided to write a play based on the book and our first performance was in April of 1923. Please join us at the Ramona Bowl in Hemet where hundreds of cast and volunteers are ready to welcome and entertain you with our spectacular 101st Anniversary Season of Ramona!
