Fly the United States Flag at Half-staff Until Sunset May 16, 2022
A Proclamation on Remembering the 1,000,000 Americans Lost to COVID-19
Today, we mark a tragic milestone: one million American lives lost to COVID-19. One million empty chairs around the dinner table. Each an irreplaceable loss. Each leaving behind a family, a community, and a Nation forever changed because of this pandemic. Jill and I pray for each of them.
As a Nation, we must not grow numb to such sorrow. To heal, we must remember. We must remain vigilant against this pandemic and do everything we can to save as many lives as possible. In remembrance, let us draw strength from each other as fellow Americans. For while we have been humbled, we never give up. We can and will do this together as the United States of America.
In memory of the one million American lives lost to COVID-19 and their loved ones left behind, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset May 16, 2022. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twelfth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-two, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-sixth.
JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.

With the Coachella Valley open again, our busy residents take more trips to the market, restaurants, hair salons, and entertainment venues. Sometimes we prefer not to drive our own car outside our community and call companies like Uber and Lyft to transport us to appointments. Below is the proper procedure to follow to expedite entry for your car service provider through our security gates and quickly to your door.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation from Sun City Shadow Hills. I have enjoyed the past five years here; first as your Controller and now as your General Manager. The staff here is a great team that happily and dutifully serves the Residents. I enjoyed working with the Residents, Committee Members, and the Board. John MacDonnell is an excellent leader and Board President with your best interest at heart. The volunteers in this Community are outstanding!
As I mentioned, this decision was not made lightly. I have been given an irresistible opportunity to advance my career. My last day at Sun City Shadow Hills will be Friday, May 13. My hope is that I am leaving the Community better than I found. I wish you all the best. You are in good hands.

General Manager

Fortunately, it is not very often that you lose a mentor, a friend, a neighbor, a kind and gentle man with a perpetual smile, and a hard-working volunteer for our HOA community all at the same time.
Johnny Goodrum was all those things to me. I, and many in our community, will miss him. It is said that, when we pass, we live on in the acts of goodness we perform and in the hearts of those who cherish our memory. Johnny was such a good man, and many of us will cherish his memory in our hearts.
I, for one, am a better person for having had the privilege of knowing Johnny. In his memory, I will continue to strive — along with my fellow Board members — to make our community the safe, well managed, comfortable, pleasant, and happy place Johnny worked so hard to create.

Question of the Month: How Does the Financial Review Process Happen?
Interested residents will find it helpful to know how the review of the Finance Advisory Committee (FAC) comes together each month. Within ten (10) days from the first of each month, with the assistance of their Arizona shared services section, Troon generates the financial reports for the preceding month, and those go to the FAC and Association management. Within five (5) days thereafter, Desert Resort Management’s (DRM’s) corporate office in Dallas finalizes the Association financial reports for the previous month and submits those to Tyler Ingle, our Association General Manager, for review and submittal to the FAC. The FAC receives the financial reports before its monthly meeting so members can analyze the reports in order to have a productive meeting.
By Charter, the FAC’s mission is to review and analyze the financial reports monthly to:
There are, of course, many other assigned duties in the FAC Charter but these are the principal ones that deal with the monthly financial reports issued by Troon and DRM that require FAC action monthly and FAC recommendations to the Board.
We will provide other helpful information and explanations for you in future issues of The View. If you have any specific financial questions, please contact the FAC at finance@scshca.com.
