City of Indio to Kick Off Town Hall Series on Thursday, March 3

The City of Indio will host the first in a series of Town Hall meetings on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 pm in the Heritage Room at Heritage Palms Country Club in Indio. Mayor Glenn Miller and members of the City Council will be on hand to answer questions about city programs, developments, special events, service priorities and infrastructure needs. Residents, business owners and other interested parties are encouraged to attend this free event.

The purpose of the Town Hall series is to provide a forum for locals to take an active role in city government. The City Council will receive input from residents while considering their concerns, requests, suggestions, observations and questions.

“As a city, It’s important for us to be able to engage our residents, hear their questions and concerns, and respond appropriately,” Miller said. “The Town Hall format is a great venue to interact, share news and make announcements. It’s about complete transparency and starting a conversation with the community.”

Heritage Palms Country Club is located at 44291 S. Heritage Palms Drive, Indio.

The next Town Hall meeting is slated for March 10 in the Palm Terrace Hall at Indian Palms Country Club, 48630 Monroe Street, Indio.

Indio CERT Training: April 8, 9, and 10

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

CERT training institutes a practical approach to handling emergency and disaster situations. CERT promotes readiness, self-sufficiency, teamwork, rescuer safety and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Students learn how to organize themselves during a disaster, manage utilities, extinguish small fires, search for and rescue survivors and provide basic disaster medical care.

CERT training will be delivered over the course of three days. Only those who complete all training hours, including practical skills practice, will receive a certificate of completion and free CERT kit.

Jefferson Interchange Update

The realigned I-10 WB on-ramp was opened on Friday afternoon. This realignment provides an extended auxiliary lane to facilitate smooth merges onto the I-10 freeway.

Traffic speed limits in both directions have been reduced on the I-10 through the Jefferson St. construction zone to 55 mph.  CHP will be enforcing this speed limit at all times until the completion of the project.

Law School Opens in Indio – First In the Coachella Valley

City of Indio celebrated the official opening of the first law college in our Valley.

John P. Dolan and his wife, Irene Dolan started this law school which focuses on educating lawyers on the skills of court room litigation.

The new school has replicas of a Federal court, Superior Court and Appellate Court to help train each student how to work in each of the different court rooms.

Officials showed up to congratulate John and Irene; Senator Jeff Stone, Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, District Attorney Mike Hestrin, Indio City Mayor Glenn Miller with Mayor Pro-tem Elaine Holmes and Council member Troy Strange, Supervisor John Benoit and Indio Police Chief Richard Twiss.

SKYWARN Training to be held in the City of Indio

The National Weather Service will provide SKYWARN training at the City of Indio Emergency Operations Center, located at 45222 Towne Street, Indio on February 12, 2016, from 10 am to 11:30 am

Jefferson Interchange Notice of Work, 2/4/16

Lane closures will take place on I-10 at Jefferson Street February 4. The purpose of this closure is to allow construction crews to place concrete pavement on the new EB on ramp.

Date: Night of Thursday, February 4, 2016.
Time: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Closures:

Closure of 2 and 3 lanes on EB 1-10.

Jefferson Interchange Notice of Work, 2/1/16 – 2/5/16

Ramp closures will take place on I-10 at Jefferson Street February 1 - 5. The purpose of these closures is to allow the removal of bridge form panels.

Closure Schedule

Date: Monday to Friday. February 1 - 5, 2016

Time: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Closures: Full closure of EB on-ramp.

Note: Friday closures will not be implemented except as a contingency to complete work delayed by weather events to keep the project on schedule.
